Doctor Kathleen Bourke
Welcome to my practice! My name is Dr Kathleen Bourke, BDSc (QLD), MDSc in Periodontics (QLD). I graduated as a dentist from Queensland University (UQ) in 1991 and went on to work as a Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Dental Officer.
During this time, I studied a three-year Periodontal Masters Course at UQ – which I completed in 1999. After, graduated from my Masters Degree where I continued to work in the RAAF and also in private practice. In 2005, I decided it was time to return to Queensland to be closer to family and to allow myself to thaw out from Canberra’s cold climate.
“As a qualified and highly experienced Periodontist, I am committed to providing quality care to all my patients and upmost professionalism to their referring dentist.”
What is Periodontal Disease?
Periodontal disease is a chronic disease that involves the loss of the anchoring bone and soft tissue around your teeth. Without treatment, you may lose your teeth and it can negatively affect your overall health.
Studies are now showing a link between periodontitis and an increased risk of heart disease. For women, there may be an increased risk of pre-term births and low birth weight babies.
You are one step closer to healthy gums!
The team at Coastal Periodontics are firm believers that healthy gums are the foundation to healthy teeth and a brilliant smile.
